MFA

Multi-Factor Authentication. How does it work?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security system that verifies a user’s identity by requiring multiple credentials such as a code from the user’s smartphone, the answer to a security question, a fingerprint, or facial recognition. We support the authenticator app-based MFA method. This means, that in order to confirm your identity, you need to use one of the supported authenticator apps to generate a unique code to use it in addition to your password each time you log in

The first thing you need to do is to download one of the supported authenticator apps for your smartphone:

If you are a Workspace owner  you can decide if the workspace shall force usage of MFA for the workspace members. If the MFA is activated for the workspace all users need to use it for accessing the workspace (using authenticators and one-time codes)

If you activate MFA for a workspace when having linked accounts, the MFA is always registered to the main account. Learn more about linking accounts here

How to setup MFA for the workspace:

     1) Open the Desktop.com app

     2) Navigate to the Settings on the left-side panel

     3) Navigate to the Workspace info menu

     4) Scroll the Workspace Info menu down to the Multi-factor authentication field and click  Activate button

     5) Scan the shown QR Code in the opened window using your preferred authenticator app and then enter the provided one-time code below.

     6) Once you have done it, click  Continue button

     7) In the opened window, copy the provided recovery code and keep it somewhere safe. You may use it if you need to log in without your device.

You will need to select the "I have safely recorded this number" checkbox before you can proceed


     8) Click Continue button to proceed

     9) Now you can enable MFA for users who belong to this workspace: Select Force every user to use MFA when accessing this Workspace" checkbox  and then click  Save changes button

How to use MFA as a two-step verification feature:
As a user of Company Workspace, where the MFA feature is enabled, you need to use one of the supported authenticator apps to generate a unique code to use it in addition to your password each time you log in

     1) The first thing you need to do is download one of the supported authenticator apps for your smartphone:

     2) Enter the Company's Workspace using your regular credentials (username/password)

     3) The "Company Workspace Verification" pop-up window will appear. It means, that the Company Workspace you trying to log in to requires all users to verify their identities before proceeding.

     4) Click the Verify identity button

     5) Scan the shown QR Code in the opened window using your preferred authenticator app and then enter the provided one-time code below.

     6) Click Continue button

     7) In the opened window you should enter a one-time code from the authenticator app from your smartphone

     8) Click Continue button

     8) In the opened window copy the provided recovery code and keep it somewhere safe. You may use it in case you need to log in without your device

You should select the "I have safely recorded this number" checkbox before you proceed

     9) Click Continue button
