Chat with Desktop.com

Reply to conversations or directly message anyone else in the Workspace.

This option is available if you enabled the Communicate feature package
Types of chats

- Direct chats (one-to-one chats between members/guests or between a member  and an external person not associated with the Desktop.com account)

- Group chats (chats between particular members)

- Channel chats (chats with all members/groups of a particular desktop). Channel chats can be activated if you enabled Organize&Search + Communication feature packages

How to start a group chat:

1. Open the Desktop.com app

2.Click the Create a new chat button

3.Click the Arrow button -> select team members from the list. You can also invite external users to chat

4. Name the chat (it is optional) -> click the Create button

To start a direct chat:

1. Navigate to the People Panel ->click the team member you want to chat with -> click the Message button

To start a channel chat (if you enabled Organize&Search +Communication feature packages):

1. Navigate to Desktops -> select the desktop you want to start a chat with -> click the +Add button -> select Enable chat option

Tips and advices:

1. Use the Pin chat option if you want to see this conversation on the top of your chats' menu. Click the 3dots button -> select Pin this chat option.

2. These conversations will be listed under the category Pinned

3. To use the Threads, enter a message and click the Reply button

4. Hide or show messages in the thread

5. To find a particular message or a link in the chat history, use the Search feature. Click the Magnifying Glass button

6. Start typing the search request to get the results. You can either search in the particular chat channel or across all the chats in your workspace

7.The chat creator can Remove the chat, in this case the chat history will be removed for all chat member. Chat members can leave the chat. In this case, the chat will be removed from the list of chats, only for the person who has left.

How to use the Chat feature on mobile devices

  To start a group chat:

1. Tap the Expand menu button

2. Navigate to Chats -> tap the Create a new chat button

3. Tap the Arrow button -> select members from the list

4.Name the chat  -> tap the Create button

To start a direct chat:

1. Navigate to the People panel on the bottom

2. Tap the member you want to chat with -> tap the Message button

To start a channel chat:

You need to enable Organize&Search + Communicate feature packages to activate channels chats

1. Navigate to Desktops -> tap the desktop

2. Tap the +Add button -> select Enable chat option
