When links are added to Desktop.com, they will be checked for possible abuse related to the URL or the domain name in the URL. By doing this, we will help to protect users from abuse and to unknowingly spread abuse.
The https://abusemanager.com API will be used for this check. This will be done when we fetch the image thumbnail for the link, and results pushed to the Desktop.com App when ready.
We will mark links with a warning flag and a message where the category is Botnet, Malware or Phishing. The message is displayed when clicking the link. Any abuse category labels will be visible in the message.
